Arcadis Prize for Geo and Environmental Research

The company Arcadis Germany GmbH donates an annual prize of € 1,000 in the field of geological and environmental research. The prize is awarded for outstanding master's theses and doctoral dissertations completed at KIT institutes with a focus on geosciences and environmental sciences.

 

The application deadline for the current call for applications is May 15th, 2024.

 

Criteria

The prize is awarded for outstanding master's theses and doctoral dissertations written at KIT institutes with a focus on geosciences and environmental sciences. The theses eligible for the prize are aimed at the protection and sustainable use of the georesources soil and groundwater or make other relevant and innovative contributions to improving the quality of life in a perfect balance between the built and natural environment.

The competition is open to graduates who have completed their master's or doctoral thesis in the last two calendar years in the above-mentioned areas. The thesis must be reviewed and evaluated.

 

Required documents

Candidates for the prize can apply in writing to the Dean's Office of the KIT-Department of Civil Engineering, Geo and Environmental Sciences (BGU). The degree certificate must be available at the time of application. The following documents must be submitted in electronic form as PDF files:

  • a short letter of application from the applicant
  • the applicant's curriculum vitae
  • a copy of the applicant's degree certificate
  • a letter of recommendation from the supervisor of the thesis
  • a copy of the thesis

Selection procedure

The prizewinners are selected by a jury of experts. The jury issues an annual call for applications to determine the winner(s). The competition is open to graduates who have completed their Master's or doctoral thesis in the last two years in the two areas mentioned above and whose degree certificate is available. The jury may award the prize to more than one candidate if several equally excellent theses have been submitted.

 

Awarding of the prize

The prize will be awarded by a representative of Arcadis Germany GmbH during the presentation of certificates at the Department ceremony of the KIT-Department of Civil Engineering, Geo and Environmental Sciences.
